A manufacturing-side guide for brands, buyers and retailers turning an idea into clear, verifiable product requirements.
What the new information tells buyers
SCA's October 23, 2026 report records higher quarter-on-quarter kraftliner selling prices in the third quarter. (Source 1; link below.)
PCA's October 21, 2026 results highlight freight and recycled-fibre cost pressure. (Source 2, PDF pages 4–5; link below.)
These are reports from businesses in different regions, not a uniform price notice for Chinese cartons or evidence that an NHE project's packaging cost has changed. Our assessment: use them as a reason to review quotations, not as automatic justification for a price increase or reduction.
Fix the specification before comparing prices
For fabric storage trunks, bins, bedding bags and hanging organisers, specify the paper or material requirements, flute profile, internal and external dimensions, units per carton, gross weight, printing, dividers and sealing method. Separate retail presentation packaging from shipping cartons. A cheaper quote after reducing dimensions or protection is not a like-for-like saving.
When a supplier requests a price change, compare the old and new cost scope, quantity basis, validity and delivery terms. Ask whether the change concerns material, conversion or transport, and request appropriate support. Do not assume a mill-level cost movement passes through proportionately to the finished product.
Link material changes to an approved sample
Our sourcing recommendation is a short change record covering the original specification, proposed alternative, reason, checks still needed and approved version. Before substituting paper, reducing thickness or changing packing arrangements, review protection with the actual product, including support panels, clear windows, zips, handles and appearance after unfolding.
Agree any necessary drop, stacking or other verification with the buyer or a testing provider for the intended channel and transport conditions. These are proposed checks, not completed test results. Assess potential repacking, damage and returns as well as empty-carton price.
Discuss project-specific packaging with NHE
NHE can discuss fabric-storage design, sampling and packaging by project. Materials, verification responsibilities, price and timing require specification review; no uniform saving or unverified test result is promised. (Subject to the published business scope and project review.)
Send product dimensions, destination market and sales channel, estimated quantity, current packaging photographs and the problem to improve through our inquiry form on our website. These inputs support comparison of product and packaging options.

Editorial note: automation assisted the research and drafting process. Check original sources and destination-market requirements before making sourcing or compliance decisions.
