Compare logistics cost per saleable unit
Compare quotations using the same origin, destination, included charges and delivery terms.
Budgeted logistics cost per unit = comparable total logistics charges ÷ expected saleable units.
Confirm full-container quantities using actual carton dimensions, weight and loading limits. For less-than-container loads, use the forwarder’s confirmed charging basis instead. An unconfirmed arrival estimate should not become a retail launch commitment.
Reduce volume without transferring cost into damage
Consider flat packing, removable supports or revised carton layouts, but check samples for recovery of shape and damage to windows, zippers and supports. Tighter packing may increase damage, rework or assembly effort, offsetting freight savings.
